Travel Advisory: Ongoing Flight Delays Following Shutdown Resolution

Although the federal government shutdown has ended, airlines and the FAA are still working through several days of operational backlog, resulting in continued delays and cancellations—particularly on domestic routes and among regional carriers. Travelers may continue to see schedule changes over the next several days as operations normalize.

Regional carriers such as Endeavor, SkyWest, and Republic continue to experience elevated cancellation levels. Industry reporting shows that cancellations have risen quickly as airlines adjust schedules and continue recovery operations.

Most airlines are still offering flexibility for rebooking or refunds, including for non-refundable fares in certain cases. Travelers should review notifications sent directly by their airline or booking agency for specific waiver details.

Reimbursement Guidance

If travel delays cause added costs outside the traveler’s control—such as lodging, meals during extended delays, or fare differences required to complete travel—these may be reimbursed with department/Driver Worktag Manager approval.
Please retain receipts and include a brief explanation of the disruption in the Expense Report Memo.
