Overview

We are pleased you have chosen to join a dynamic and innovative group of employees at the UW System whose contributions are vital to the success of public higher education in Wisconsin.

The UW System offers an excellent benefits package to meet the diverse needs of employees. Your total rewards package includes three main components: wages, health insurance, and, if eligible, an employer contribution to your retirement account. Your spouse and children are eligible for the plans that offer coverage to dependents.

Understanding your options will help you make informed decisions so you get the most from your benefit plans. You are encouraged to attend a benefits orientation during your first 30 days as a newly benefits eligible employee.

Most benefits require enrollment within 30 days of date of employment or when you become benefits eligible.

Benefit Orientation Sessions

In the tables below are the dates and times of upcoming Benefit Orientation Sessions. Select a session that is within 30 days of when you became benefits eligible.

How to Enroll in Your Benefits

Most employees can use the MyUW portal to enroll in most benefits online. Review the benefits welcome email you received and your Enrollment Deadline Worksheet to determine if you are eligible to enroll via the MyUW portal or if you will need to submit paper applications.

If you are eligible to enroll via the MyUW portal view Benefits Enrollment resources (Tip sheet|Video). Help Documents for the MyUW portal are also available.

If you previously worked for the UW System or for a State agency you may need to enroll using paper applications. Review the benefits welcome email you received and your Enrollment Deadline Worksheet to determine if you need to submit paper applications. Submit paper applications to benefits@uwss.wisconsin.edu or fax to (608) 890-2327. Note: Written signatures are required on applications. If submitting applications through email do not include Social Security Numbers.

Important: Enrollments must be completed within 30 days of your benefits eligibility date.

Resources

Enrollment Deadline Worksheet: In your benefits welcome email you received an Enrollment Deadline Worksheet that outlines your job type (faculty, academic staff, limited appointee, university staff, graduate assistant), your enrollment due date, when your coverage becomes effective, and if you are eligible to enroll via the MyUW portal or if paper applications are required.

Review this document in detail and have it handy to reference during your benefits orientation.

Presentations: You may reference the benefits orientation presentation at the following links.
