MADISON – University of Wisconsin System President Katharine C. Lyall today announced the names of four finalists for the position of chancellor of UW-Eau Claire.

The names have been forwarded to the Board of Regents’ Special Committee for the

UW-Eau Claire Chancellorship, chaired by Regent Patrick Boyle, which will interview the finalists

May 1 in Madison. Other committee members are Regents Jo Anne Brandes, Ruth Marcene James, Toby Marcovich and Grant Staszak. The full Board of Regents will take final action once it receives a recommendation from the Special Committee.

The finalists, their titles and institutions are as follows:

A seventeen-member campus/community search committee, chaired by Dr. James Oberly, professor of history at UW-Eau Claire, submitted its recommendations to President Lyall on April 17.

The four finalists were chosen from among 72 applicants. The person chosen by the Regents will become UW-Eau Claire’s sixth chancellor, succeeding Larry Schnack. Chancellor Emeritus Schnack retired in January 1998 after a 32-year career with the University of Wisconsin System, the last 13 as chancellor.
