MADISON, Wis. – Michael J. Falbo, president of the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents, today announced three finalists to be considered for the System’s top post.
An 18-member search and screen committee, chaired by Regent Vice President Regina Millner, recommended finalists for the position of UW System president to Falbo and a Regent selection committee.
Finalists (in alphabetical order):
Raymond W. Cross
University of Wisconsin Colleges and University of Wisconsin-Extension
Peter H. Garland
Executive Vice Chancellor/Chief Operating Officer
Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education
Robert L. King
Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education
Falbo and the Regent selection committee will interview finalists on Monday, January 6. Other committee members include Regent John Behling, Regent Margaret Farrow, Regent Tracy Hribar, Regent Edmund Manydeeds, and Regent Gerald Whitburn. They will recommend one candidate to the full Board of Regents, which must approve the appointment.
Each finalist will participate in a statewide public forum via videoconference, offering opportunities for faculty, staff, students, and community members to interact with candidates and provide feedback. The schedule for those public conversations, with information about videoconference sites, is posted online at http://www.uwsa.edu/presidential-search.
Following the interviews and public forums, the selection committee will convene on Tuesday, Jan. 7. The committee’s recommendation will be taken up by the full Board of Regents on Thursday, Jan. 9, and the appointment will be announced after that meeting.
The person selected through this process will be the UW System’s seventh president, succeeding Kevin P. Reilly, who stepped out of the office last month to advise the American Council on Education (ACE) and return to teaching. UW-Whitewater Chancellor Richard Telfer is now serving as the UW System’s interim president.
