MADISON, Wis. – University of Wisconsin System President Ray Cross thanked the Wisconsin Senate for passage today of the College Affordability legislative package.

The College Affordability bills approved by the Senate provide better and clearer information to inform students of their debt commitments and offer small, targeted micro-grants to assist students at the two-year UW Colleges who face financial emergencies.

“Students and their families will see immediate benefit from these bills through new grants available to help UW Colleges students overcome obstacles, such as unexpected car repairs that might otherwise make it difficult to attend classes, and the provision of regular, easy-to-understand updates on loan obligations. We thank the bills’ authors and sponsors for their support, particularly Senators Harsdorf and Marklein,” Cross said.
