MADISON — The University of Wisconsin System welcomes families, students and future alumni to learn more about the state’s public university through a day of exhibits and fun events at the Wisconsin State Fair.
This year’s “UW Day at the State Fair,” to be held on Friday, Aug. 6, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., on the Central Mall of the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds in West Allis, will feature a college fair, interactive displays, opportunity to purchase logo wear, and a chance to meet UW campus mascots.
“‘UW Day at the State Fair’ is a great place for Wisconsin citizens to learn how the state’s public university touches lives every day, in every corner of the state,” said UW System President Katharine C. Lyall.
Highlights will include:
College Fair: Admissions counselors representing the UW’s 13 four-year campuses and 13-freshman-sophomore campuses will be on hand to talk one-on-one with students and their parents. Staff from campuses and the Higher Education Location Program (HELP) can answer questions about admissions, courses and programs, careers, transfers and financial aid.
Meet the Mascots: Shake hands ― or paws ― and take pictures with campus mascots, including UW-Madison’s Bucky Badger, UW-Whitewater’s Willie Warhawk, UW-River Falls’ Freddy Falcon, and Corby the Cougar from UW-Waukesha. Don’t forget a camera!
For Families: Explore campus exhibits, including hands-on experiences with Caribbean coral reefs, marine biology, robotics, space exploration and weather research. Kids, take your photo as a “Future UW Grad,” and bring home a collectible activity book. Also, stop by to meet chancellors, regents and student ambassadors from UW System campuses.
Alumni: Support your alma mater or a close-to-home campus at the UW Store. Take home a cap, T-shirt or sweatshirt with a favorite UW logo.
UW Day at the State Fair is conveniently located on the Central Mall near the Cream Puff Pavilion and the Budweiser stage. For more information, visit the UW System’s “UW Day at the Fair” website at http://wisconsin.edu/statefair.
