University of Wisconsin System President Ray Cross announces that Stephanie Marquis has been named Director of Communications in the Office of University Relations. Marquis has more than 23 years of experience in the communications industry, and will officially begin in her post on January 1, 2017. She has served as the System’s Interim Director of Communications since July 1st.

“Stephanie is a strong leader with extensive communications experience, and we are glad she is now a permanent member of our team,” says UW System President Cross. “Her background in developing relationships with a diverse group of state and community partners will be essential to the UW System. We look forward to her continued guidance and proven track record of explaining the value our institutions bring to Wisconsin and its citizens.”

Marquis joined Wisconsin state service in October 2003, and her contributions in state government span the tenures of Governors Walker and Doyle. She has served in executive communication roles at several of the largest and most complex agencies in State government including the Department of Administration, Department of Revenue, Department of Health Services and the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin.

Prior to working for the State, Marquis worked in the private sector at both profit and non-profit organizations, and also has experience in broadcast journalism. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from UW-Madison.
