Is Airbnb allowed to be booked by UW System travelers?
Yes, effective with a change to UW System Administrative Policy 415 Purchase & Payment of Lodging on July 1, 2020 – UW System employees may be reimbursed for Airbnb bookings. Employees may also book Airbnb accommodations for guests that are travelling on University business.
To book, visit airbnb.com, and create an account using your UW email address. Select “For Work” when booking your trip.
Prior to booking, please review all cancellation policies, and check with your department to ensure compliance with departmental policies. Ultimate approval of reimbursement of Airbnb costs, including any forfeited deposits, is dependent on University, College or Departmental policies.
Tax Exemption
Airbnb will not remove taxes at the time of booking. It is the responsibility of the traveler or arranger to reach out to Airbnb support and provide the appropriate tax exemption, either Wisconsin or Out of State information to remove the taxes.
