MADISON, Wis. – University of Wisconsin System President Kevin P. Reilly today announced five finalists for the position of chancellor at UW-Milwaukee.
A search and screen committee, chaired by Distinguished Professor Mark D. Schwartz from UW-Milwaukee’s Geography Department and current chair of UWM’s University Committee, recommended the slate of finalists to Reilly and a special committee of the UW System Board of Regents chaired by Regent Danae Davis of Milwaukee.

The five candidates will participate in a series of public forums between March 16 and March 31, offering opportunities for faculty, staff, students, and community members to interact directly with the finalists. The campus search and screen committee will announce a schedule for those public conversations.
Reilly and the Special Regent Committee will interview the finalists on April 12. Along with Regent Danae Davis, committee members include Regent Judith Crain of Green Bay, Regent Tony Evers of Madison, Regent Michael Spector of Milwaukee, and Regent José Vásquez of Milwaukee. They will recommend one candidate to the full Board of Regents, which must approve the appointment.
The person selected through this process will succeed UW-Milwaukee Chancellor Carlos Santiago, who stepped down in October, 2010, to accept a position as CEO of the Hispanic College Fund. Michael R. Lovell, Dean of UWM’s College of Engineering and Applied Science since 2008, is serving as Interim Chancellor.
