MADISON, Wis. – John N. Diamond has been named Interim Associate Vice President for External Relations and Strategic Communications for the University of Wisconsin System.
UW System Vice President for University Relations James Villa announced the appointment of Diamond, who will supervise a team broadly responsible for the UW System’s external and internal communications.
“John brings to the System over 20 years of experience in higher education communications. He also has a proven track record of managing strategic communications and stakeholder engagement,” said Villa.
In this role, Diamond will provide day-to-day management of the System’s communications personnel and will assist in coordinating strategic communications involving all of the UW System institutions.
“John’s background and drive make him a great addition to our new University Relations team. His interim hire will allow us to immediately develop and begin implementing a communications plan while we consider our long-term options. We appreciate John’s willingness to join the UW System at this critical time,” said UW System President Ray Cross.
Diamond has worked at institutions of higher education in Arkansas and Maine. He also has experience as a newspaper staff reporter and is a former member of the Maine House of Representatives.
Diamond will report directly to Vice President Villa.
