MADISON, Wis. – University of Wisconsin System President Kevin P. Reilly today announced four finalists for the position of chancellor at UW-Platteville.

A 19-member search and screen committee, chaired by Professor D. Joanne Wilson of UW-Platteville’s General Engineering department, recommended the finalists to Reilly and a special committee of the UW System Board of Regents chaired by Regent Tom Loftus.

The four candidates will participate in a variety of public forums between Feb. 23 and March 2, offering opportunities for finalists to interact directly with faculty, staff, students, and community members:

The person selected through this search process will become UW-Platteville’s 14th chancellor, succeeding Chancellor David Markee, who retired in August 2009.  Markee, one of the longest serving chancellors in the UW System, had led UW-Platteville since 1996. Former UW-Platteville Provost Carol Sue Butts has served as Interim Chancellor since Markee’s retirement.

As one of 11 comprehensive universities within the UW System, UW-Platteville enrolls more than 7,500 students.  Leading about 700 faculty, academic staff, and classified staff members, the UW-Platteville chancellor is responsible for an annual budget exceeding $100 million.
