“Today, the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System voted unanimously to dismiss Professor Lewis Keith Cohen from his tenured faculty position in the UW-Madison Department of Comparative Literature, effective immediately.
“Professor Cohen’s egregious conduct and its effect upon the university and the community require that this action be taken. We will not condone such activity and promise that we will continue to address such matters in an expeditious but fair manner.
“To that end, my fellow Regents and I, consistent with shared governance and academic freedom, are taking steps to establish a new, expedited process for the disposition of disciplinary matters involving serious misconduct.”
