The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay continues to strengthen its global impact as Rasoul Rezvanian, professor of finance and the Austin E. Cofrin Endowed Chair in Business, has been named a 2026–27 Fulbright U.S. Scholar to Azerbaijan. The award marks Rezvanian’s third Fulbright appointment, placing him among a select group of scholars worldwide to earn the distinction three times.
During his nine-month appointment in Baku, Rezvanian will teach finance courses and conduct research focused on the stability and performance of Azerbaijan’s banking sector. Born near the Azerbaijan border in northern Iran and fluent in Azeri, he brings both deep academic expertise and a strong cultural connection to the work.
“When you go outside the country, you realize how much of an impact you can have on people’s lives,” said Rezvanian. “In many places, especially developing countries, students are eager to learn and looking for guidance. You can help shape their futures—not only academically, but as people. That’s what makes the Fulbright experience so meaningful.”
The experience will also create new opportunities for UW-Green Bay students and faculty. Through international partnerships, research and shared perspectives, Rezvanian plans to bring lessons learned abroad back to the classroom, helping students better understand and succeed in a globally connected economy.

Rezvanian’s achievement reinforces UW-Green Bay’s mission to prepare students for success in an interconnected world through innovative teaching, meaningful research and partnerships that create impact far beyond campus.
