POSITION SUMMARY

The Universities of Wisconsin Administration (UWSA) is seeking a Compensation and Data Reporting Specialist. Reporting to the Director of Total Rewards, this position provides consultation on compensation issues, maintains classification policies, procedures and programs. In addition, this role reviews, and approves classification and compensation requests, and analyzes data to ensure alignment with divisional and institutional goals. This position will create and maintain reports, dashboards, and other data visualization tools to disseminate Human Resources (HR) and Affirmative Action/Equal Employment Opportunity (AA/EEO) related statistical reports and information.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES 

Compensation Services & Support

  • Conducts analysis and provides consultation regarding compensation issues and program direction, and ensures compensation policies and procedures are maintained and aligned with industry best practices and organizational vision.
  • Participates in salary surveys and conducts classification and compensation studies of market data, reviews current practices, and recommends improvements to leadership to align with strategic initiatives and objectives.
  • Creates and revises standard job descriptions in alignment with the established organizational structure and approved methodology.
  • Serves as a liaison to human resources staff providing organizational information, reviewing and analyzing data, and recommending solutions for routine pay scenarios in accordance with established policies, procedures regulations, and applicable laws.
  • Contributes to the planning, development, and implementation of strategic compensation and classification initiatives and objectives.
  • Works on the regular maintenance of the compensation program taking initiative to evaluate its effectiveness, achievement of goals, budgetary aspects, etc., and recommend improvements to leadership where necessary.

Data Reporting & Analysis

  • Create and maintain reports, dashboards, and other data visualization tools to disseminate HR and AA/EEO related statistical reports and information.
  • Collects, analyzes, and researches institutional data according to established procedures and regulations.
  • Utilize data reporting tools to retrieve institutional data according to established policies, procedures, and reporting regulations.
  • Analyze and interpret data to provide insights to support business decisions.
  • Serves as liaison and contact for internal and external stakeholders for HR related reporting and compliance, external surveys, and institutional statistics.
  • Takes initiative to audit data and propose solutions.

Membership Management & other duties as assigned

  • Manages membership participation for UWSA and other institutions for organizations like MarketPay, CUPAHR, ERI, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least two years of experience in compensation and/or data reporting and analysis
  • Experience gathering and analyzing statistical data and generating reports
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with employees and management at all levels in problem resolution
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of compensation administration principles and procedures
  • Knowledge of job analysis and job evaluation principles, methods, and procedures
  • Knowledge of federal and state wage and salary laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques and computer applications (i.e. spreadsheets, word processing and databases)
  • Experience in data visualization tools, like Tableau and management of large data sets
  • Experience evaluating accuracy of large data sets as well as programs used to house, manage, and visualize data

WORK LOCATION
The office location is 780 Regent Street in Madison, WI. Telecommuting or hybrid work options may be available, with an expectation that this position will work in-office 3 days per week. Telecommuting agreements are subject to change at any time.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The Compensation and Data Reporting Analyst (official title: Compensation Analyst I) is a full-time, salaried (exempt), Academic staff position. Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within the range of $55,000-75,000, commensurate with the candidate’s education, related experience, and qualifications.
