UW-Shared Services provides payroll, benefits, business services, and reporting services to UW System employees and universities.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position will manage data and reporting needs as well as assist with other analyst activities for UWSS and our customers.  This position will handle freedom of information requests, ad hoc data gathering and analysis, may assist with analysis and audit of expense and Pcard related data, and manage a multitude of standard compliance reports for customers internal and external to UW.  In addition to the primary data and reporting responsibilities, this position will assist UWSS in analyzing business processes to identify efficiencies and gather data for inclusion in operational and service metrics.  Recent examples of such activities include pulling and analyzing expense and teleworking data in response to audits, analyzing data and preparing routine reports related to position management, and gathering and review of purchasing data to support transition of work from universities to UWSS and related team structure.

This position will work collaboratively with all UWSS teams, the Workday Enterprise Support Team, other UW Administration teams and our customers to support routine operations as well as support the effort to build and enhance new work streams geared toward operational efficiency and automation of administrative services.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform complex data analyses and reporting
  • Design, develop, and implement complex data reporting and business intelligence system/processes
  • Provide guidance to unit staff in the design, development, and implementation of data reporting and business intelligence systems, tools and processes
  • Make recommendations in the selection of technology solutions to align with business strategies
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to institutional and unit leadership on critical technology issues, specifically related to data and reporting
  • Recommend and participate in the implementation of system enhancements or changes that may involve custom design, optional, and third-party products
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this position, a candidate must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience in data and reporting analytics including gathering, analyzing and organizing data for multiple types of audiences
  • Demonstrated experience in understanding customer needs and translation into effective solutions

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Well qualified applicants will also have a substantial amount of experience in a combination of the following:

  • Experience in higher education or large complex organization
  • Experience with reporting in Workday
  • Experience using a variety of reporting and business intelligence tools (ie, Tableau, Power BI)

WORK LOCATION

The office location is in Madison, WI. An in-office requirement is expected three days per week with the option to work the remaining two days off-site/remote. Telecommuting agreements are subject to change at any time.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The Business Systems Analyst (Official Title: Business Systems Analyst III (Inst)) is a full-time, salaried (exempt), academic staff position. Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within a range of $85,000 – $100,000 commensurate with the candidate’s education, related experience, and qualifications.
