Systemwide IT outages

  1. Database Maintenance – Mulitple Service Impacted

    14 September 2025 | 2:00 pm

    Many Production databases will see rolling outages during the first couple of hours of patching while the Oracle software homes are patched. During this time one of the two database instances will remain up and available. Once completed, the databases will see a short full outage as the patch is applied to the database itself.   1. Merit Maintenance - Stephenson MI

    From 00:00 to 06:00 Friday 09/26/25, Merit contractors will be splicing fiber strands on an existing tail in Stephenson, MI 49887 (45.409413, -87.609525). The work is not expect to be service affecting but there is a possibility of it impacting Merit's optical transport over which UW SysNet has backup circuits for UW-Superior and Marinette.

  1. UW SysNet - Merit Fiber Maintenance (Dagget and Carney , MI)

    From 00:00 to 06:00 Thursday 09/25/25, Merit contractors will be splicing fiber strands on an existing tail in Daggett, MI 49821 (45.462448, -87.598492). The work is not expect to be service affecting but there is a possibility of it impacting Merit's optical transport over which UW SysNet has backup circuits for UW-Superior and Marinette.

    From 00:00 to 06:00 Wednesday 09/24/25, Merit contractors will be splicing fibers on an existing in the Powers/Spalding (5.668678,-87.526164) area of Michigan. The work is not expected to be service affecting but could possible impact Merit's optical transport over which UWSysNet rides for backup circuits to UW-Superior and Marinette.
