1. Purpose
The purpose of this practice directive is to establish restrictions on the ability to carry weapons or firearms at UW institutions.
2. Background
Under § 18.10(3) of the Wisconsin Administrative Code a person is prohibited from carrying, possessing, or using any dangerous weapon on university lands or in university buildings or facilities except with the written approval of the chief administrative officer or for law enforcement purposes.
