The Service Operations team within UW-Shared Services exists to standardize processes, consolidate operations, and streamline administrative practices in order to provide high quality services while improving administrative efficiency and effectiveness. In addition to providing high quality services, Service Operations brings value to UW institutions by reducing administrative burden and cost, thereby allowing them to invest time and resources into activities which are more central to their mission.

POSITION SUMMARY

The University of Wisconsin System is seeking to fill multiple Systems Support Analyst, in Service Operations, to assist with the maintenance and updates of the ERP system(s).  The Systems Support Analyst will work on cyclical operational projects, design and implementation of new functionality, assist with Payroll & Benefits processing; and assist with the design and implementation of a new cloud-based ERP.   These full-time, salaried, Academic Staff positions will report to a Shared Services Manager. (Multiple positions may be filled from this posting.)

Our current vacancies are located in the following areas:

Payroll: This core area will be responsible for Payroll system processing, projects, system changes, and testing activities related to payroll core processing, federal and state tax withholding and compliance, payroll reporting, and payroll related data transmittals.

HR/Finance:  This core area will be responsible for HR and Finance projects, system changes, and testing activities related to recruiting, compensation, and financial processes.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Troubleshoots hardware, software and system problems that involve ERP system-wide functionality
  • Plans, coordinates, and implements system-wide updates, upgrades, and patches for ERP systems
  • Recommends and participates in the implementation of ERP system enhancements or changes that may involve custom design, optional, and third-party products
  • Creates and updates access permissions and maintains user accounts to maintain ERP systems security through user profile management
  • Designs, configures, monitors, and maintains performance metrics for system features and recommends and takes corrective/preventive actions
  • Participates in the design, development, and implementation of test and production objects. Defines user requirements and performs configuration, change management, and testing activities
  • Assists in serving as the liaison representing interests to internal and external stakeholders (Senior Systems Support Analyst)
  • Assists management team by advising on enterprise information technology operations and business models (Sr Systems Support Analyst)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for an ERP Administrator III (Sr Systems Support Analyst), applicants must have:

  • Three plus years’ relevant work experience as a business analyst
  • Knowledge and experience with data analysis using tools like SQL, queries and/or ad hoc reporting
  • Demonstrated experience with ERP systems, for example configuration, table structures and batch job maintenance/creation
  • Held a lead role in projects or significant process improvements using the SDLC process
  • Demonstrated understanding of complex operational and technical business processes in order to understand and apply system usability and user experience working with cross-functional areas including developers, subject matter experts, stakeholders, project management, and end users either leading projects or serving as a project team member
  • Documenting and creating functional/technical designs
  • Concurrent work on multiple projects

To be considered for an ERP Administrator II (Systems Support Analyst), applicants must have:

  • One to three years’ relevant work experience as a business analyst
  • Knowledge and experience with data analysis using tools like SQL, queries and/or ad hoc reporting
  • Held a lead role in projects or significant process improvements using the SDLC process
  • Ability to learn complex operational and technical business processes in order to understand and apply system usability and user experience working with cross-functional areas including developers, subject matter experts, stakeholders, project management, and end users either leading projects or serving as a project team member
  • Documenting and creating functional/technical designs
  • Concurrent work on multiple projects

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Well qualified applicants for the ERP Administrator II and III will also have a substantial amount of experience in a combination of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in Human Resources, Benefits and/or Payroll
  • Experience in writing SQL
  • Experience in an educational environment
  • Demonstrated work on process documentation
  • Experience with creating and reviewing functional technical designs
  • Experience creating and updating file specifications to support transmittal of data
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience conducting business process and information system analysis
  • Experience with collecting and analyzing business process requirements
  • Experience providing customer service support

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of or ability to learn complex business/transaction processing at the UW System and institution level
  • Planning, organization, and project management skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Proven teamwork and issue resolution skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with advanced testing techniques
  • Solid understanding of information technology, query writing, and SQL
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft or other ERP application fundamentals

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

This position is a full-time, salaried (exempt) academic staff position. This is an ongoing position.  The official title is ERP Administrator II or III (title will be offered based on the candidate’s education, related experience and qualifications).

A hybrid model of telecommuting may be available for Wisconsin residents.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within a range of $63,000 – $74,000 (System Support Analyst) and $75,000 – $95,000 (Sr System Support Analyst) commensurate with the candidate’s education, related experience, and qualifications.
