Compliance
Regent Policy Document 4-21, Commitment to Academic Freedom and Freedom of Expression, requires UW System to report annually to the Board of Regents its efforts to uphold the principles in the policy. The policy affirms the Board’s commitment to academic freedom and freedom of expression. In 2019, the Office of Compliance & Integrity (OCI) assumed the responsibility of gathering information from the UW institutions. OCI developed a questionnaire that is sent out annually to the institutions along with additional information such as timelines, processes, and examples. OCI then prepares an annual report, which is then submitted and presented to the Board of Regents to verify systemwide compliance with the requirements under RPD 4-21.
