Sleep well. Eat well.
Universities of Wisconsin offer a range of on-campus housing and dining options to meet student needs.
Housing Options
All UW universities offer on-campus housing for undergraduate students, with some offering graduate and family housing. Campuses often provide information on off-campus housing options.
Most residence halls include:
- Furnishings like a bed, desk, and dresser
- Cable and high-speed internet access
- Laundry
- Kitchens, fitness areas, and common rooms
- Bicycle parking and storage
Costs vary by campus based on room type (single vs. double, suite vs. shared) and local rental markets.
Do I have to live on campus?
First- and second-year undergraduates at most Universities of Wisconsin must live on campus unless they live with a parent or guardian within 40 miles of campus. Students who are 21 years old or who have finished high school at least two years ago may be granted an exception to the requirement at most campuses.
Compare undergraduate housing information and visit the housing webpage at each UW university you are considering to learn more about housing options, costs, application processes, and deadlines.

Campus Dining Options and Meal Plans
All UWs offer a variety of dining options to accommodate a range of tastes, preferences, and dietary needs. Our universities also offer meal plans. Some have structured plans that offer a set number of meals at a fixed price. Other UWs give students an account they can load with money for purchasing meals and snacks at campus dining halls.
Visit the dining webpage at each UW university you are considering to learn more about options, costs, and locations.
