The Universities of Wisconsin will contact you with important information about your application status, financial aid, scholarships, housing, and more. Plan to check your email a few times each week. Most UWs will share next steps and deadlines by email—so do not miss those.
Dates and Timelines
Curious as to what happens once you hit submit on your online application? Below you will find the dates and timelines for when the admission office will start reviewing applications as well as how long that review process typically takes.
NOTE: Your application will only be reviewed when the admission office has received all the required materials; the application form, the application fee, standardized test scores ACT/SAT (if submitting), and high school and/or college transcripts. Depending on the campus you may need to send a letter(s) of recommendation.

We know you will consider many factors when deciding which college to attend. We encourage you to take some time to learn even more about the UWs you are considering.
- Visit! If you have not done so yet, schedule a campus visit or take a virtual tour before you decide to enroll.
- Consider how you will pay for college. Complete your FAFSA, explore scholarship opportunities, and ask questions.
- If you plan to live on campus, familiarize yourself with housing and dining options and costs.
- Explore all the services, resources, and opportunities your UW has by reviewing our Student Resources and also visiting your UW webpage.
Once You've Decided to Attend
We are here to help and are excited to welcome you to the UW family! Your UW will provide you with an enrollment checklist or ‘to-do list.’ Make sure to follow it and meet deadlines.
- You will be asked to register for new student orientation—sign up as early as possible.
- If you plan to live on campus, you will be asked to sign a housing contract. Look for that information and complete it as early as possible.
- You will likely need to complete placement tests.
- Consider learning more about your major or academic program. If you are undecided, take the MyMajors Assessment. If you want to explore all academic program offerings, use the Find Your Program search tool.
- Start thinking about your first semester schedule by exploring course offerings.
