Description: UW-Superior moved to a co-requisite model of developmental mathematics support in fall 2020. Presenters discussed their implementation of a single co-requisite support course that supports students in two credit-bearing gateway courses—Statistics and Quantitative Reasoning.  This model of one support for two different gateway tracks is a unique approach by the UW-Superior math department. In fall 2021, the presenters performed surveys and interviews to determine the student reactions to the new model. Additionally, the grades of co-requisite students since fall 2020 have been analyzed. This talk focused on the details of the co-requisite model for Stats and Quantitative Reasoning and the perceptions of students enrolled in the support course in fall 2021.

Presenters: Kristin Riesgraf and Josh Stangle of UW-Superior

Suggested audience: UW math department chairs and Math Steering Committee members

Access: Mathematics faculty, staff and administrators at UW System institutions are invited to enroll in the Math Initiative CoP Canvas course at https://uws-td.instructure.com/enroll/XTXRCM,, where resources are posted.
