Description: Educators are aware of our current mental health crisis in higher education, yet many feel they lack the skills and resources to react and respond appropriately.  This session will focus on the latest science and practice of well-being skills from the fields of mindfulness, positive psychology, neuroscience, and positive education.  Participants will learn tools they can use in and out of the classroom to help students’ mental health and well-being.

Presenter: Randy Barker M.S.Ed., LPC is the Director of Student Health and Counseling Services and the Pruitt Center for Mindfulness and Well-Being at UW-Superior. The Pruitt Center’s mission is to promote and enhance the science of mindfulness and well-being to students, faculty, staff, and the greater community.  Randy has previously worked as a college counselor, taught college courses on Mindfulness, Positive Psychology and Emotional Intelligence, and has provided a vast array of training and workshops surrounding the diverse areas of mindfulness and well-being.

Access: Mathematics faculty, staff and administrators at UW System institutions are invited to enroll in the Math Initiative CoP Canvas course at https://uws-td.instructure.com/enroll/XTXRCM,. After the event, resources will be posted in Canvas.
