The course template workstream has finalized the design of the Canvas course template. The template provides a consistent layout and navigation experience for students, thereby allowing students and instructors to more easily work within Canvas courses at any UW System institution. Input and feedback was gathered from students, instructors and staff across the UW System through a multiple-step focus group and survey process. The Canvas course template incorporates fixed navigational elements to create a consistent user experience for students and flexibility for the instructors to use Canvas in a way that supports their “pedagogy first” approach to using the Digital Learning Environment (DLE).
