Employee insurance premiums and contributions, for participating employees, will change in 2026.

Changes beginning with the January 8, 2026 paycheck:

  • Health Insurance – Premiums for all plans will increase
  • Dental Insurance – Premiums for most plans will increase
  • Vision Insurance – Premiums will decrease
  • Accident Insurance – Premiums will increase
  • Individual & Family Life Insurance – If you enrolled, made changes to coverage, or are in a new premium age category as of January 1, 2026 your new premium rate will start.
  • Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance – If you enrolled or changed coverage levels your new premium rate will start.
  • Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) Contributions – Employee and employer contributions will increase.
  • UW 403(b) Supplemental Retirement Program (SRP) and Wisconsin Deferred Compensation (WDC) 457 Program – If enrolled, 2026 contributions will start.
  • Health Insurance Opt-Out Incentive (for eligible employees who opted out of health insurance) – Incentive payment will start.
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Health Savings Account (HSA), and Parking & Transit Accounts – If enrolled, contributions will start.

Changes beginning with the April 2, 2026 paycheck:

  • Income Continuation Insurance (ICI) – Premium rates will decrease effective April 1, 2026.
  • State Group Life Insurance – Premium rates will increase for most age groups effective April 1, 2026. Spouse & Dependent coverage premiums will not change.

Reminders

Benefits insurance premiums are deducted in the same month as the coverage month. Benefits insurance premiums and UW 403(b) Supplemental Retirement Program (SRP) and Wisconsin Deferred Compensation (WDC) 457 Program contributions are processed on the first two paychecks of each month (24 paychecks during the calendar year).
