1. License
1.1. The Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System doing business as the Universities of Wisconsin News Service (“UW News Service”) retains all its rights in the copyrightable material provided with these News Packages (the “Material”). The UW News Service hereby grants a perpetual, non-exclusive, royalty-free license for the use or reproduction of the Material, subject to the limitations expressed in these Terms & Conditions. A user may not intentionally alter any of the Material in a manner that would lead a reasonable person to come to a false conclusion about the original Material. Additionally, any images that are included with the Material (the “Images”) must be used without substantial editing, with the exception of changing its resolution to appropriately size any of the Images. Creating derivative works from any of the Images is an infringing use. Copying or publishing any of this text or these images indicates agreement with the terms herein.
2. No Warranty
2.1. The Material is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied, including, but not limited to, warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and noninfringement. UW News Service uses reasonable efforts to include accurate and up-to-date information in the Material; however, it does not make any warranties or representations as to the Material’s accuracy or completeness. UW News Service uses reasonable efforts to ensure that the Material is original content created and owned by the Board of Regents; however, it does not make any warranties or representations as to the noninfringement of the Material.
2.2. UW News Service assumes no liability or responsibility for any errors or omissions in the Material. Your use of this Material is at your own risk. Under no circumstances and under no legal theory shall UW News Service, its officers, employees, agents, or any other party involved in creating, producing, or delivering the Material be liable to you or any other person for any indirect, direct, special, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your access to, or use of, the Material.
3. Credits and Citation
3.1. All copyrights should be attributed to the “©Board of Regents of the Universities of Wisconsin, [YEAR].”
3.2. Citation is welcome but not necessary. Story and photo citations should read as follows:
“By [NAME OF AUTHOR/PHOTOGRAPHER] [NAME OF UNIVERSITY], Universities of Wisconsin News Service.”
If there is no author or photographer byline, story and photo citations should read as follows:
“By [NAME OF UNIVERSITY], Universities of Wisconsin News Service.”
