Teaching and Learning Philosophy

Dr. Juan Zhang’s teaching philosophy centers on the belief that meaningful learning occurs when students actively make sense of ideas, articulate their thinking, and apply concepts to real-world problems. Teaching is not simply the transmission of knowledge; it is a process of guiding students to think critically, ask thoughtful questions, and develop the confidence and skills needed to find answers themselves. This belief is rooted in Dr. Zhang’s own experience as a learner and shaped by teachers whose insights and passion deeply influenced her growth. She aspires to create the same kind of environment that sparks curiosity, values student voices, and supports learning as a reflective and collaborative journey.
