Wisconsin Civics Games

The Wisconsin Civics Games is a dynamic, statewide initiative empowering high school students to become informed citizens and future leaders. Through a fast-paced, team-based competition, students deepen their understanding of government and current issues while building the skills that matter most—critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and leadership.

Founded in 2018 by the Wisconsin Newspaper Association Foundation, the program has grown to reach students across the state, with nearly 200 participants each year advancing through regional competitions to the State Finals at the Wisconsin State Capitol. Now part of the Universities of Wisconsin, the Civics Games continue to expand their impact, bringing the Wisconsin Idea to life by connecting meaningful learning experiences to communities statewide.

Students don’t just learn about civics—they live it!

The Wisconsin Civic Games offer a hands-on, democracy-driven experience that’s as educational as it is engaging and fun. This program is ideal for:

  • High school students passionate about government, law, leadership, or current events
  • Educators who want to spark meaningful civic engagement in their classrooms
  • Schools seeking dynamic, experiential learning opportunities that go beyond traditional instruction

Join a community where learning comes to life and civic participation begins.
