UW Training & Programming

The Office of Civic Engagement (OCE) hosts two faculty and staff events each academic year:

  • Fall: A back‑to‑school kickoff offering reminders, tips, and practical resources open to all UW employees
  • Spring: An interactive gathering for faculty and staff more directly engaged in civic engagement work, focused on connection and growth

OCE also coordinates student workshops on campus host sites each academic year. In addition, OCE offers custom professional development for students, faculty, and/or staff upon request on topics related to:

  • Civil dialogue
  • Civic participation
  • Campus climate
  • The First Amendment

Training formats range from 60‑minute webinars to full‑day, in‑person sessions. OCE works collaboratively with universities and key partners to identify appropriate topics and delivery methods based on audience needs and readiness.

When OCE is unable to provide a specific training, we offer referrals and recommendations for additional learning and support.
