The Universities of Wisconsin enrich local and regional communities with public art galleries, museums, libraries, lectures, concerts, dramatic productions, and culture. UW campuses infuse local communities with their distinctive energy and focus on the future. By integrating service and lifelong learning, applied research, and regional partnerships, the UWs address local challenges and support a strong and vibrant Wisconsin.
The UWs Serve Wisconsin Communities
UW–Madison Extension brings the Wisconsin Idea to every corner of the state, extending university knowledge and connecting campus to communities through six institutes: Agriculture, Community Development, Health & Well-Being, Human Development & Relationships, Natural Resources, and Positive Youth Development.
Wisconsin Institute for Public Policy and Service (WIPPS) brings communities together through nonpartisan dialogue, civic engagement, and student‑driven service, helping address local and statewide needs.

UWs’ sporting events bring communities together to support athletic achievements, enhance the local economy, and foster a shared team spirit.
