The mission of the Office of Civic Engagement for the Universities of Wisconsin is to empower communities across the Universities of Wisconsin to engage deeply in democratic life through dialogue, collaboration, and civic action.

The Office of Civic Engagement for the Universities of Wisconsin will be a national leader in strengthening democracy, cultivating dialogue that connects people across differences, and fostering civic learning and engagement across campuses and communities.

A. Community of Practice
- Build collaboration across the Universities of Wisconsin to strengthen civic learning and engagement.
- Host virtual meetings and annual convening to connect, co-create, and share.
B. Information Hub
- Serve as the systemwide source for civic learning resources, research, and best practices.
- Maintain relationships with universities, agencies, partners, and national networks.
C. Reporting and Compliance
- Elevate stories that highlight university civic engagement efforts.
- Support universities with annual compliance reporting and coordinate the systemwide report.
D. Programming, Workshops, and Trainings
- Provide professional development on civil dialogue, civic participation, and related topics.
- Administer grants to support innovative initiatives related to the Office of Civic Engagement mission and vision.
E. Community and PK–20+ Partnerships
- Sustain statewide partnerships that extend civic learning beyond higher education.
- Strengthen alignment between PK–12 and Universities of Wisconsin civics activities.
