“Financial assistance is the sole reason I am able to pursue my dream of becoming a teacher. Attending college has opened so many doors for me, and has allowed me to grow both academically and personally. As a future educator myself, I truly believe that knowledge has the power to change our lives.”

“Federal financial assistance has helped me immensely. Programs like the federal work study as well as subsidized and unsubsidized loans have made it possible for me to attend college in the first place. As I come from a large family in which my siblings and I are the first generation to attend college, federal assistance is necessary for lower middle class families and students like me to pursue their dreams. Without it, access to further education becomes limited, and low-income families will face barriers in bettering their lives. This support is necessary for so many students like me across Wisconsin.”

“Without receiving financial aid, my college experience and future would look completely different than it does now. I wouldn’t be able to participate in experiences that contribute to my future in education like Big Brother Big Sister, build connections with a variety of people through club sports, or simply help me pay for school so work money can go towards rent. I am able to focus on my studies without the stress of that comes from worrying about how to pay for school.”

“I am a single mother attending UWSP for my degree in Elementary Education. In order to complete my journey, Pell Grants and Financial Aid are necessary. It helps me and many other students be able to attend college to pursue our dreams!”

“My college experience so far has been a little different than others. Sometimes life gets in the way, so I’m no stranger to taking semesters off from school and then later returning. Receiving federal financial aid like Pell Grants has allowed me to continue my education at my own pace. If it weren’t for the extra federal support, I wouldn’t be able to pursue a career in my desired field.”
