{"id":2004,"date":"2026-03-26T20:12:17","date_gmt":"2026-03-26T20:12:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.wisconsin.edu\/workday\/?page_id=2004"},"modified":"2026-03-26T21:29:19","modified_gmt":"2026-03-26T21:29:19","slug":"enterprise-systems-governance","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.wisconsin.edu\/workday\/enterprise-systems-governance\/","title":{"rendered":"Enterprise Systems Governance\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The&nbsp;Workday Enterprise and Solutions Team (WEST)&nbsp;governance framework is designed to maximize how enterprise systems such as Workday,&nbsp;ShopUW+ and other WEST-supported tools are managed and improved.&nbsp;This framework implements a clear structure that:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Increases transparency in decision-making<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Encourages collaboration across universities and departments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prioritizes projects and system changes to best support the Universities of Wisconsin<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Design Strategies<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Design strategies&nbsp;guide&nbsp;WEST governance&nbsp;in&nbsp;developing&nbsp;processes and&nbsp;establishing&nbsp;solutions for enterprise system issues.&nbsp;The design strategies&nbsp;are:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Develop solutions that <strong>establish or maintain standardization<\/strong> in administrative business processes and technical designs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strive for solutions that <strong>do not add additional complexity <\/strong>into our business processes and technical systems. Simplify further when possible. Focus on the following: \n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Establish &#8220;just enough complexity&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain flexibility where it doesn&#8217;t increase complexity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consider the complete end-to-end business process<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Highlight where added complexity will drive additional cost and weigh against the potential benefit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Shared responsibility&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The success of our HR- and finance-related business processes depends on shared responsibility across the Universities of Wisconsin.&nbsp;Function-focused committees and councils collaborate to provide oversight and governance, improving processes and style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<p>The Finance and Human Capital Management (HCM) Councils are supported by business domain working groups that collaborate to improve processes and enhance the use of enterprise systems.&nbsp;Working group members from across the Universities&nbsp;contribute&nbsp;their diverse perspectives to ensure campus needs and impacts are fully considered when developing solutions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full
