The Wisconsin Civics Games were founded through the vision and leadership of Eve Galanter and the Wisconsin NewsMedia Association, which established and nurtured the competition as a way to inspire young people to deepen their understanding of civics, government, and democratic participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, the Universities of Wisconsin are proud to carry that legacy forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the new home of the Wisconsin Civics Games, the Universities of Wisconsin are committed to preserving the spirit and purpose of the competition while building on its strong foundation and expanding its reach and impact for future generations of Wisconsin students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Civics Games align closely with the Universities of Wisconsin’s mission to educate people, serve society, and extend knowledge beyond the boundaries of our institutions. They also directly support our Strategic Plan’s commitment to foster civic engagement and serve the public good by encouraging young people to think critically, engage in civil dialogue, and develop the knowledge and skills needed to participate thoughtfully in democratic life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through the Wisconsin Civics Games, we hope to help cultivate the next generation of informed, engaged citizens who will contribute to their communities and help shape Wisconsin’s future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are grateful to Eve Galanter, the Wisconsin NewsMedia Association, and the many educators, judges, volunteers, sponsors, and partners who built the Wisconsin Civics Games and made it the respected program it is today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
