POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the leadership of the Shared Financial System (SFS), this position is responsible for on-going system monitoring, maintenance, and end user support for the Shared Financial System, JAGGAER and supplemental systems.  The University of Wisconsin currently uses Oracle PeopleSoft Financial system and the JAGGAER Procure 2 Pay system but is in the process of moving to a new ERP system – Workday.

This position provides leadership and functional/technical expertise in one or more business process and provides direction and coordination of the team members and activities. This position is also responsible for ensuring that specific operational and project goals are accomplished.

This position has a significant role in Shared Supplier, Purchasing and Accounts Payable business processes, project/process management, customer support, relationship management, system support, and change management. The analyst works closely with transactional users, security, other analysts, developers, and customers to provide technical and functional analysis and expertise.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Lead for SFS and JAGGAER activity and Business Analysis

  • Provides solutions and recommendations to complex business problems and issues related to the various SFS modules and JAGGAER system. Work with team members to determine satisfactory resolution, including appropriate documentation.
  • Collaborates with functional and technical team members to develop common processes across the organization and to ensure seamless integration with PeopleSoft modules and other applications.
  • Identifies opportunities to streamline and optimize business processes. Collaborates with team members and institutions for issue resolutions and changes (understanding and documenting needs).
  • Participates in the development of testing plans and the testing effort to ensure that all aspects of the modules are fully tested.
  • Provide functional and technical support to ensure data quality and system optimization within SFS and related systems.

Operational Support and Training

  • Responsible for the on-going system monitoring, maintenance, and user support of SFS and JAGGAER functionality.
  • Monitoring, facilitating and coordination of IT service requests.
  • Develop end-user manuals, user guides, and training materials for SFS and JAGGAER, where applicable.
  • Provide documentation and training to back-office operations staff, end users and team members as part of core financials support.

Project Management

  • Participates in the planning, execution, monitoring and documenting of projects and process enhancements.
  • Provides functional and/or technical analysis and guidance during projects to ensure proper design techniques are used.
  • Assists and supports project resources as needed (subject matter experts, functional resources, technical resources, consultant resources, etc.). Works with representatives from other functional and technical teams to ensure integration across modules and systems.
  • Participates in project deployment phases and project documentation.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts to facilitate the development and implementation of support documentation, tools, and procedures for projects and process enhancements.
  • Understands and develops processes, including making recommendations on improvements in processes and delivery of services.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this position, applicants must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or related experience in business related field.
  • Experience multi-tasking business requirements and processes.
  • Experience working with JAGGAER or Oracle PeopleSoft Financials/Workday or other equivalent financial systems.
  • Proficient in MS Office programs, specifically Word and Excel.
  • Experience developing documentation to support system changes and project work.
  • Experience eliciting business needs and requirements and translating requirements into use and test cases.
  • Experience troubleshooting problems and providing support to end users.
  • Demonstrates superb customer service and professionalism.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to use them to work effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of individuals at all organizational levels and to encourage teamwork and open communications through cooperative interaction with multiple, diverse groups.
  • Knowledge of requirements management and project management disciplines and best practices, risk management, project estimation, work plan preparation, change control.
  • Ensure the security and confidentiality of University of Wisconsin System records and information; protect against any anticipated threats or hazards to the security or integrity of such records; and protect against unauthorized access to or use of such records or information.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
Well-qualified applicants will also have a substantial amount of experience in a combination of the following:

  • Experience working with cross-functional areas including developers, subject matter experts, stakeholders, project management, and end users either leading projects or serving as project team member.
  • Experience leading a functional team and successfully achieving project goals.
  • Experience providing alternative solutions and recommendations to complex problem and issues.
  • Experience identifying opportunities to streamline business processes.

 COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The Financial System Analyst (official title: Business System Analyst II, job code: IT013) is a full-time, salaried, exempt, academic staff position. Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within a range of $70,000 – $87,500 commensurate with the candidate’s education, related experience, and qualifications.
