Position Summary

* This position is a two-year project position.

This position will be responsible for the project management of capital building projects.  Construction projects range from $50,000 to $20 million and include academic, administrative, recreation, housing, athletic, medical, and research facilities.  While this position will be involved with multiple projects in various stages of development (initiation, planning, execution, controlling, and closing of construction projects), the focus will be projects that are in construction.  The position includes both Project Administration and Project Management duties.

As a project administrator this position will oversee the project and assist the institution’s project manager with contractual matters, budget management, and scope.  A project administrator will be expected to uphold the standards of UWSA and the State of Wisconsin. Major Responsibilities

Major responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the construction project team of consultants, contractors, vendors, and university staff though the design and construction of a project
  • Assume all project accounting activities and closely monitor the project budget and schedule. Provide project management expertise necessary to develop, advance, and manage building projects from opportunity identification through construction and occupancy, focusing on the construction phase of projects.
  • Advise and consult campus staff on Policies and Procedures for UW-Managed projects.
  • Ensure that University of Wisconsin System and State of Wisconsin standards are met, program requirements are fulfilled, and expenditures are commensurate with program need.
  • Manage General Contractor to ensure successful projects.
  • Conduct site visits and attend inspections to ensure compliance with all design requirements, specifications and applicable codes. Assess completed projects to determine success based on building performance and satisfaction of program needs.
Minimum Qualifications

In order to be considered for this position, a candidate must have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Mgmt., Engineering, Architecture, or related field, from an accredited college or university.
  • Five (5) years of project management experience with progressive increase of responsibilities.
  • Design and Construction project management experience with academic, healthcare and/or research facilities.
  • Experience focused on Construction Administration phase of building projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, and AutoCAD is required.
Preferred Qualifications

A well-qualified candidate will also have:

  • Professional registration in Wisconsin.
  • Experience in a college, university, or institutional setting or on higher education building types.
  • Five (5) years as Owners Project Representative on major capital, renovation and infrastructure projects in a large institutional setting.

This position is a full-time, salaried (exempt), two-year fixed term terminal academic staff position.
