Background

After July 1, 2018, students from UW Colleges will transition to become students at a four-year UW institution. During the 2018-19 transition year, the transcripts of the former UW Colleges students taking courses at the branch campuses will be maintained at UW Colleges administrative office. Both the Higher Learning Commission and the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers support the recommendation that receiving institutions put a comment code on the UW Colleges transcripts indicating the change of structure for the 2018-19 year.

The Higher Learning Commission, as well as the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, stated that in all circumstances, for students who graduate after July 1, 2018, the institution name on the diploma must be the name of the accredited receiving institution. Registrars will document the degrees earned after July 1, 2018, using the name of the accredited receiving institution. Registrars may note the formal name of the branch campus underneath the name of the degree granting institution on a second line on the diploma to show that the student took courses at the branch campus.
