This section provides information about various TIS reports. To retrieve reports, please go to the TIS Online Maintenance System.

  1. Many TIS files contain a Year/Term designation in the YYYT format described below. The designation will change each term.
    • YYY = Academic year of data/report (e.g. 123 for fall and spring 2012-13; 123 for summer 2013)
    • T = Term of update report (‘1’ = Fall, ‘2’ = Spring, ‘3’ = Summer)
  2. Institution-specific TIS files contain a Unit Code (*) or an Institution Abbreviation (***) designating the institution. (See TIS Institution Table for details.)

These are static reports generated as a part of course batch submission processing. Course update reports file formats are:

tisYYYT*_crs_error_report.pdf

tisYYYT*_crs_unmatched_report.pdf
tisYYYTuw_crs_MONTHupdate_report.pdf

  1. Course Error Report
This report provides totals for the submitted records. It also reports any problems with the submitted data. It may be used to identify records with errors that need to be corrected before they will be added to the TIS Course Data Base. It also provides warning messages for records that have potential problems which are not critical enough to prevent the update from being processed.
  2. Course Update Report
This report shows the results of the valid course updates. It shows how the course records were changed from the previous submissions (“Old”) by the current submission (“New”) as well as course record additions and deletions.
  3. Unmatched Course Report
This report identifies any courses that were reported in previous submissions but were omitted from the current submission.

These are static reports generated as a part of equivalency batch submission processing. Equivalency update reports file formats are:

  • tisYYYT*_footnote_change_report.pdf
  • tisYYYT*_footnote_error_report.pdf
  • tisYYYT*_footnote_unmatched_report.pdf
  • tisYYYT*_equiv_update_report.pdf
  • tisYYYT*_equiv_error_report.pdf
  • tisYYYT*_equiv_unmatched_report.pdf
  • tisYYYT*_equiv_error206gw_report.pdf

Examples:

  • tis1231k.equiv.error.report.pdf for the Fall 2012-13 Equivalency Error Report for UW-Stevens Point
  • tis1232k.equiv.update.report.pdf for the Spring 2012-13 Equivalency Update Report for UW-Stevens Point
  • tis1233k.equiv.unmatched.report.pdf for the Summer 2013 Unmatched Equivalency Report for UW-Stevens Point
  1. Footnote Change Report
This report shows how footnote text records for your institution were changed from the previous submissions (“Old”) by the current submission (“New”).
  2. Footnote Error Report
This report lists footnote text records with errors that need to be corrected before they will be added to the TIS Equivalency Data Base or with potential problems that the institution may wish to correct. Associated messages indicate the nature of the problem.
  3. Footnote Unmatched Report
This report lists footnotes that are on the TIS data base but were not included in the current submission.
  4. Equivalency Update Report
This report shows the results of the valid equivalency updates. It shows how the equivalency records were changed from the previous submissions (“Old”) by the current submission (“New”).
  5. Equivalency Error Report
This report lists equivalency records (both specific and department) with errors that need to be corrected before they will be added to the TIS Equivalency Data Base or with potential problems that the institution may wish to correct. Associated messages indicate the nature of the problem.
  6. Unmatched Equivalency Report
This report lists equivalencies that are on the TIS data base but were not included in the current submission.
  7. Equivalencies with Discontinued To Courses Report (“error206gw_report”)
This report lists equivalencies that are on the TIS data base for which the Receiving Course Equivalent (‘To Course’) has been discontinued. These equivalencies should be reviewed to determine if there is a new course that should be the ‘To Course’ equivalent or if the equivalent should be updated to an elective.

Campuses can generate a No Equivalency Provided (“NEP”) Report. For a given institution, this report lists each course for which the given institution has not provided an equivalency to TIS. (Note: The NEP Reports are only available to users who are logged into the TIS Maintenance System.) The reports can be exported in one of the following formats:

  • CSV (for loading into Excel)
  • Excel
  • XML
  • PDF (for direct printing)

Campuses can generate Department/Curricular Area Code and General Education (Breadth) Table Reports. The reports can be exported in one of the following formats:

  • CSV (for loading into Excel)
  • Excel
  • XML
  • PDF (for direct printing)

Campuses can generate a list of the systemwide and institutional footnote text records for an institution. The reports can be exported in one of the following formats:

  • CSV (for loading into Excel)
  • Excel
  • XML
  • PDF (for direct printing)

  1. Campuses can generate a dynamic Course Distribution Report for a specific institution. This report lists each course on the TIS data base offered at the selected institution.
    Options include selecting:

    • all courses or only freshman/sophomore level courses, current courses (without ending dates) or both current and historical versions of courses.

(Note: The Course Distribution Reports are only available to users who are logged into the TIS Maintenance System.) The reports can be exported in one of the following formats:

    • CSV (for loading into Excel)
    • Excel
    • XML
    • PDF (for direct printing)
  2. Within the Static Reports area, Course Distribution Reports are available in PDF, CSV, and Excel formats that include (1) all courses (both current and historical versions) from all institutions and (2) all freshman/sophomore level courses (both current and historical versions) from all institutions.

These reports are run by TIS staff, typically following batch course submission processing to identify problems that may have been caused by course or other table updates.

  1. Course Statistics Report
This report provides a summary of the data associated with a course submission file for a given campus. It lists the dates the file was received and used to update, along with the total number of records submitted, updates done, and records rejected as errors.
  2. Match CAC to Course Report
This report lists courses on the TIS data base where the curricular area code (CAC) on the course record is not valid for the associated department/curricular area in the TIS Department/Curricular Area Table.
  3. Duplicate Active Course Report
This report lists courses on the TIS data base where the data may be inconsistent or erroneous. This includes courses for which there are multiple records for the same or overlapping effective dates, courses for which there are multiple records with an active or inactive status, and courses where the previous course information is erroneous.

These reports are run by TIS staff, typically following batch equivalency submission processing to identify problems that may have been caused by equivalency or other table updates.

  1. Equivalency Statistics Report
This report provides a summary of the data associated with the equivalencies in an equivalency submission file for a given campus. It lists the dates the file was received and used to update, along with the total number of records submitted, updates done, and records rejected as errors.
  2. Footnote Statistics Report
This report provides a summary of the data associated with the footnote text records in an equivalency submission file for a given campus. It lists the dates the file was received and used to update, along with the total number of records submitted, updates done, and records rejected as errors.
  3. Match Course to Equivalency Report
This report lists equivalencies on the TIS data base where there is no match in the TIS course file for either the associated From Course or To Course.
  4. Duplicate Equivalency Report
This report lists equivalencies where multiple records are on the TIS data base for the same From Course and the same or overlapping effective dates. In some cases, these records represent “group” equivalencies where one course transfers as a combination of courses. In such situations, it is recommended that a footnote be assigned to each equivalency to explain the group situation. In other cases, one of the records may have submitted with a missing end date.

This report lists the number of equivalencies that a given To Institution has provided to TIS. For each From Institution, the number of active courses is compared to the number of equivalencies provided for these courses. For UW institutions, a total of freshman/sophomore level courses is also reported with the percent of these equivalencies provided. For Wisconsin Technical Colleges, the freshman/sophomore totals report applied associate degree courses in the general education area and liberal arts courses with the percent of these equivalencies provided.
