In doing so, stakeholders establish a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisconsin.edu\/pk20\/the-wisconsin-pk-20-mathematics-ecosystem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wisconsin PK-20 Mathematics Ecosystem<\/a> that provides the teaching and learning opportunities students need for success.<\/p>\n<p>The WI-MA Task Force is part of a multi-state effort directed at bridging the gaps between high school and college mathematics supported by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbmsweb.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Conference Board of the Mathematical Sciences (CBMS)<\/a> in collaboration with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.utdanacenter.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charles A. Dana Center<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.achieve.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Achieve<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In Fall 2022, Wisconsin joined 19 other states as part of the Dana Center\u2019s three-year <a href=\"https:\/\/www.utdanacenter.org\/twenty-states-join-launch-years-initiative\">Launch Years Initiative<\/a> to bridge the learning &amp; teaching of students\u2019 mathematics experiences from their early years \u00a0through their first semesters at a UW institution. Over the next three years, the Launch Years Initiative will provide technical assistance to help Wisconsin meet its four goals.<\/p>\n<h5>WI-MA Task Force Goals<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisconsin.edu\/pk20\/wi-ma-goal-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WI-MA Goal #1<\/a>: Create a structure to develop internal and external student learning outcome coherence between PK-12 and each identified post-secondary gateway mathematics course. (Coherence)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisconsin.edu\/pk20\/wi-ma-goal-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WI-MA Goal #2<\/a>: Create structures that increase students\u2019 access to relevant content and research-based practices in the mathematics curriculum along the PK-20 education pipeline. (Equity)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisconsin.edu\/pk20\/wi-ma-goal-3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WI-MA Goal #3<\/a>: Expand the current definition of college and career readiness so it reflects research and best practice in students\u2019 preparation for post-secondary mathematics. (Wisconsin Mathematics Ecosystem Coherence)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisconsin.edu\/pk20\/wi-ma-goal-4\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WI-MA Goal #4<\/a>: Create conduits between and among other state-wide initiatives to improve students\u2019 access to, and participation in, the mathematics-based knowledge economy. (Equity and Coherence)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/div><div class=\"col-md-5 cfct-block\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"cfct-module uwsa-callout\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"cfct-mod-content callout standard grey-bg\">\n    <h4>WI-MA TASK FORCE MEMBERS AND AFFILIATIONS<\/h4><p><a class=\"btn btn-primary btn-sm \" target=\"_blank\" role=\"button\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wisconsin.edu\/pk20\/wi-ma-task-force-members-and-affiliations\/\">Members<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"cfct-module uwsa-callout\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"cfct-mod-content callout standard grey-bg\">\n    <h3 class=\"cfct-mod-title\">Guiding Principles<\/h3><p>The WI-MA Task Force prioritizes actions that build\/enhance structures to improve all students\u2019 access and choice to quality mathematics in preparation for all post-secondary experiences.<\/p>\n<p>We accomplish this work by:<\/p>\n<p>1. Providing choice, flexibility, and opportunities in students\u2019 decision-making about mathematics course taking.<\/p>\n<p>2. Identifying actions with an eye on increasing students\u2019 success in mathematics.<\/p>\n<p>3.
