My background includes teaching veterinary technician students, collaborating on surgical research in otolaryngology, and working as a small and large animal veterinarian in clinical practice.

My teaching focuses on active, student-centered learning and the development of practical clinical skills. I am particularly interested in how learning environments can support collaboration, reflection, and professional growth, and I enjoy developing interactive teaching tools—such as anatomically accurate 3D models—that help make complex concepts more accessible and engaging for students.

Teaching and Learning Philosophy

My teaching centers on creating an engaging, community-based learning environment where students actively work with the language, skills, and concepts of veterinary medicine. I approach my role as a mentor and coach, supporting students as they take ownership of their learning and draw on their prior experiences.

I encourage curiosity, experimentation, and reflection as essential parts of the learning process. By fostering a low-stakes environment where students can take risks and occasionally struggle, I aim to support the development of resilience, confidence, and deeper understanding.

My approach to assessment emphasizes application and communication, alongside an interest in how students reason through uncertainty and contribute to shared learning. I am particularly interested in designing interactive experiences—including anatomically accurate 3D models and active learning strategies—that support collaboration, problem-solving, and professional growth.

As a Wisconsin Teaching Fellow, I look forward to continuing to explore how learning environments can support students’ sense of belonging, relevance, and development as emerging professionals.

["post-20352","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry","cfct-can-haz-build
["GET
