People matter. To me, each student needs to be respected, connected, and cared for as an individual with dignity and identity. As for the teaching method, I believe a fun, inspiring, and efficient process would benefit both parties in the past years; now I focus more on adopting effective strategies from other professions, such as Transparent in Learning and Teaching, Alternative Grading and Rubrics, to fill gaps by giving students more precise guidance. However, the core of my teaching and learning philosophy is to create a welcoming and inviting environment for students. This is not just a goal, but a commitment to make the learning process comfortable and enjoyable for all. Overall, my teaching and learning philosophy is to help students gain more confidence by learning from my class and getting ready for their future careers.

UW-Stout Assistant Professor Packaging Dr. Xiaojing Liu is an Assistant Professor in Packaging Engineering and Technology at the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
