My areas of specialty include American modernism and postmodernism, with particular attention to religion, corporeality, and addiction. I teach a variety of literature courses at UWRF&#8211;including Introduction to Literature, American Literatures I &amp; II, Literature of War, and Contemporary American Literature. I am currently working on revisions for my manuscript, titled Pilgrims of an Altered State, a monograph about the intersection of religion, intoxication, and travel in American countercultural literature of the 1950s and &#8217;60s.<\/p>\n<h6><strong>TEACHING AND LEARNING PHILOSOPHY<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p>My teaching is emphatically Socratic. I believe in creating communities for students to engage, question, and discuss issues such as ethics and representation.
