{"id":36963,"date":"2026-05-04T08:00:35","date_gmt":"2026-05-04T13:00:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.wisconsin.edu\/ohrwd\/?p=36963"},"modified":"2026-05-04T12:53:48","modified_gmt":"2026-05-04T17:53:48","slug":"use-paid-leave-by-june-30-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wisconsin.edu\/ohrwd\/blog\/2026\/05\/04\/use-paid-leave-by-june-30-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Use Paid Leave By June 30, 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Leave eligible employees are encouraged to plan ahead and schedule paid leave now to avoid losing hours that are not eligible to carry over into the next fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Personal and Legal Holidays<\/strong><br \/>\nPersonal and legal holidays must be used by<em> June 30, 2026, or they will be lost<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vacation<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Faculty, Academic Staff and Limited Appointees:\n<ul>\n<li>All vacation hours carried over from fiscal year 2025 (July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025)\u00a0<em>must be used by June 30, 2026<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>University Staff, including Craft Works and Trades Employees:\n<ul>\n<li>All vacation hours carried over from calendar year 2024 (January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024) and from the transition period (January 1, 2025 to June 30, 2025) <em>must be used by June 30, 2026<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>As a reminder, University Staff leave transitioned from a calendar year to a fiscal year. Leave from calendar year 2024 had an extended carry over period to facilitate the transition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you are eligible, vacation hours may be banked starting July 1, 2026.
