Many neighborly habits such as checking in, listening, and connecting with support tools can make a big difference, especially for those struggling or feeling alone.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Did You Know?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Suicide is the second leading cause of death for ages 10 to 24.<\/li>\n<li>Males make up 79% of people who die by suicide in the U.S.<\/li>\n<li>One person dies by suicide in the U.S. about every 11 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Talking about suicide does not cause someone to be suicidal.<\/li>\n<li>Most suicidal individuals give warnings of their intentions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If someone shares that they&#8217;re struggling or could use support, you may not know how to respond. The National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) offers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nami.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/NAMI-What-to-Do-When-Someone-Shares-They-Are-Struggling.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">10 Ways to Offer Support<\/a> to help you prepare for those conversations.<\/p>\n<p>Suicidal thoughts are a symptom, just like any other symptom. They can be treated and improved over time, so it&#8217;s okay to talk about suicide.
