This means that you cannot make changes to your benefits mid-year unless you have a qualifying life event, as defined by the IRS. Some examples of qualifying life events are employment changes (such as a change to your employment category or appointment percentage), and family changes (such as birth\/adoption, marriage\/divorce).<\/p>\n<p>When you have a qualifying life event, you generally have 30 days from the date of the event to make your changes. If you miss this 30 day window, your next opportunity to make changes is in the fall for the upcoming calendar year.<\/p>\n<h2>Changes<\/h2>\n<p>Qualifying life events consist of employment changes and family changes. Review the web pages linked below for more information on qualifying life events.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisconsin.edu\/ohrwd\/benefits\/life-events\/empcha\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Employment Changes<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisconsin.edu\/ohrwd\/benefits\/life-events\/famchng\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Family Changes<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How to Make Changes<\/h2>\n<p>To enroll, make changes, or cancel coverage log into Workday (<a href=\"http:\/\/myworkday.wisconsin.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">myworkday.wisconsin.edu<\/a>) within 30 days of your life event. Once in Workday, from the Menu in the left go to Personal, then select Benefits and Pay. In the Suggested Links, select <em>My Benefits<\/em> to access the benefits enrollment system, <em>My Insurance Benefits<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Before you can access\u00a0<em>My Benefits<\/em>\u00a0for the first time, you will need to set up your\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/kb.wisconsin.edu\/workday\/internal\/149907\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MyWisconsin ID<\/a>. This is a one-time registration where you will create a login using your\u00a0<em>personal email<\/em>\u00a0address and personal identification information. This will be your long-term credentials to view and manage most of your benefits. Visit the Employee Trust Funds website,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/etf.wi.gov\/my-benefits-help\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/etf.wi.gov\/my-benefits-help<\/a>, for more information. If you do not have a Social Security Number (SSN), indicate your Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) or UW-Reporting ID (let us know if you need this number).<\/p>\n<p>Once logged into to\u00a0<em>My Insurance Benefits<\/em>:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Review the Terms &amp; Conditions and click Next.<\/li>\n<li>Select Get Started to enroll in your benefits.<\/li>\n<li>Make your selections.<\/li>\n<li>When you are satisfied with your selections Confirm Changes and review your selections in the Active Benefits section.
