Full-time employees earn eight hours of leave for each legal holiday. Part-time employees earn a prorated amount based on hours worked during the pay period that includes the legal holiday.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>New Year\u2019s Day (January 1)<\/li>\n<li>Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Third Monday of January)<\/li>\n<li>Memorial Day (Last Monday in May)<\/li>\n<li>Independence Day (July 4)<\/li>\n<li>Labor Day (First Monday in September)<\/li>\n<li>Thanksgiving (Fourth Thursday in November)<\/li>\n<li>Christmas Eve (December 24)<\/li>\n<li>Christmas Day (December 25)<\/li>\n<li>New Year\u2019s Eve (December 31)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When a legal holiday falls on a Saturday, the employee is granted eight hours of floating legal holiday (prorated, if part-time).<\/p>\n<p>When a legal holiday falls on a Sunday, the legal holiday is observed and the Universities of Wisconsin is closed on the Monday following the legal holiday.<\/p>\n<p>Due to varying business needs throughout the Universities of Wisconsin, some employees may be required to work on a legal holiday.
