Annual Benefits Enrollment (September 27 – October 22, 2021):
Make a new recordkeeper election for 2022 through MyUW Portal
Enrollment: During Annual Benefits Enrollment (ABE), you will have the opportunity to enroll with TIAA or Fidelity. You can find step-by-step instructions on how to do so through MyUW Portal by reviewing the 403(b) ABE Elections Guide pdf . Your new account with your chosen recordkeeper will be set up on or about November 1, 2021.

Account Balance: Your current account balance will move to the recordkeeper of your choice — TIAA or Fidelity — in January 2022.

Future Contributions: Your contributions will move to the recordkeeper of your choice — TIAA or Fidelity — effective with the January 13, 2022 paycheck.

Investment Pre-Selection Window: Beginning November 1, 2021, you will be able to pre-select your investment elections with the recordkeeper of your choice — TIAA or Fidelity.

If you do not make pre-selections, your balance and any future contributions will move to an age-appropriate target date fund.

Investment selections for future contributions will be effective with contributions deducted from your January 13, 2022 paycheck.

Blackout Period: To help ensure the smooth transfer of account balances from T. Rowe Price, there will be a brief blackout period. During this time, you will not be able to perform transactions (e.g., change investments, make withdrawals, take a loan, and transfer funds).

For those who choose TIAA as their new recordkeeper, the expected blackout dates are January 7, 2022 at 3pm CST ending on or before January 13, 2022.

For those who choose Fidelity as their new recordkeeper, the expected blackout dates are December 31, 2021 at 3pm CST ending the week of January 16, 2022.

If you make a 403(b) recordkeeper selection after October 22 and before December 10, 2021 Enrollment: You will need to use the EZ Enrollment or Salary Reduction Agreement (SRA) and submit it to your benefits contact to enroll. Indicate the change is for 2022, unless you want contributions to come out of your paycheck in 2021. You will receive follow up communications from UW System and/or the new recordkeeper.

For new enrollees to TIAA;

  • If you make your selection of TIAA after October 22 but before November 12, you should be enrolled with TIAA on or about November 19, 2021.
  • If you make your selection of TIAA after November 12 but before December 10, you should be enrolled with TIAA on or about December 23, 2021.

Account Balance: Your current account balance will move to the recordkeeper of your choice — TIAA or Fidelity — effective January 2022.

Future Contributions: Your contributions will move to the recordkeeper of your choice — TIAA or Fidelity — effective with the January 13, 2022 paycheck.

Account Balance: Your current account balance will move to TIAA in January 2022.

Future Contributions: Your contributions will be directed to an age-appropriate target date fund in your TIAA account with contributions effective on the paycheck payable January 13, 2022.

Blackout Period: To help ensure the smooth transfer of account balances from T. Rowe Price, there will be a brief blackout period. During this time, you will not be able to perform transactions (e.g., change investments, make withdrawals, take a loan, and transfer funds).

For those who choose TIAA as their new recordkeeper, the expected blackout dates are January 7, 2022 at 3pm CST ending on or before January 24, 2022.

For those who choose Fidelity as their new recordkeeper, the expected blackout dates are December 31, 2021 at 3pm CST ending the week of January 16, 2022.

If you wish to keep your balance with T. Rowe Price You must have had a distributable event (e.g. being age 59 1/2 or older) to keep your balance with T. Rowe Price.

If you have had a distributable event:

Contributions: Stop your current contributions to T. Rowe Price by completing a Salary Reduction Agreement (SRA). This will ensure that no future money goes to the account while you make changes.

Contact T. Rowe Price: Work with T. Rowe Price at 800-922-9945 to move your account balance to an IRA.

Future Contributions: If you decide you would like to continue contributing to the 403(b) program in 2022, complete an EZ Enrollment, selecting either TIAA or Fidelity as your recordkeeper.

Current employees not actively contributing

Although you are not actively contributing to the UW 403(b) program, you may have balances in the program. Your account balance will move to TIAA, the default recordkeeper, in January 2022, unless you take action.

Here are your options:

  • Make no changes and allow your account balance to move to TIAA.
  • If you would prefer your account balance move to Fidelity, beginning November 1, 2021, go to www.NetBenefits.com/UofW.
    • If you do NOT have an account already established through the UW, click Register and follow the prompts.
    • If you DO have an account established through the UW, enter your login information.

Once you are in the UW Fidelity account, you will be able to make an election to move your T. Rowe Price balance(s). Designations must be made by December 17, 2021.

  • If you have had a distributable event, you may move your account balance to a different employer plan, roll over to an IRA, or work with T. Rowe Price to roll your account into a T. Rowe Price IRA. If you wish to roll over to a T. Rowe Price IRA, call T. Rowe Price at (800) 922-9945.

terminated employees

Although you are not actively contributing to the UW 403(b) program, you may have balances in the program. Your account balance will move to TIAA, the default recordkeeper, in January 2022, unless you take action.

Here are your options:

  • Make no changes and allow your account balance to move to TIAA.
  • If you would prefer your account balance move to Fidelity, beginning November 1, 2021, go to www.NetBenefits.com/UofW.
    • If you do NOT have an account already established through the UW, click Register and follow the prompts.

Note: New accounts with TIAA and Fidelity will update beneficiary information to State of Wisconsin Standard Sequence. Whether you are an active or terminated employee in the program, you will want to go into your account to update this information.
