As a Faculty, Academic Staff or Limited appointee you will:

The following plans are not affected by your appointment change and will continue automatically:

  • State Group Health Insurance
  • Dental Wisconsin
  • EPIC Benefits+
  • VSP Vision Insurance
  • State Group Life Insurance
  • Individual and Family Life Insurance
  • UW Employees Inc. Life Insurance
  • Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance

The following plans may be affected your change in appointment.

 
  • If currently enrolled then you must complete an application within 30 days of your appointment change to continue your coverage and select a waiting/elimination period. Your premiums will be based on your salary and select waiting period. Contact your benefits office for assistance in determining your new waiting period.
  • If not currently enrolled, please contact your benefits office within 30 days of your appointment change so they can determine if you are eligible to enroll.

Your annual FSA election will remain the same but your per pay period deduction will be recalculated and taken from every monthly check. This will happen automatically.

  • WRS contributions and creditable service for Faculty, Academic Staff and Limited appointees are reported on a fiscal-year basis, as opposed to a calendar-year basis. 
  • To receive one year of WRS creditable service, Faculty, Academic Staff or Limited appointees must work 1320 hours in a fiscal year.
  • WRS contributions are based on a percentage of your income. If your income changes, the amount of your WRS contribution will also change.
  • You will automatically be enrolled if you meet the eligibility requirements. No application is required.
  • Employees should complete a beneficiary form.
  • If you have an annual appointment, you will be paid 12 times per year. If you have an academic year appointment, you will be paid 9 times per year.
  • The same TSA deduction you had prior to starting your new appointment, will come out of your monthly check unless you submit a Salary Reduction Agreement to change your deduction. For example, if your bi-weekly deduction was $200 (or $5,200 for the year), $200 will be deducted from your monthly paycheck ($2,400 for the year if annual-basis or $1,800 for the year if academic year-basis) unless you take action to change your deduction.
  • If you have an annual appointment, you will be paid 12 times per year. If you have an academic year appointment, you will be paid 9 times per year.
  • The same WDC deduction you has prior to starting your new appointment, will come out of your monthly check unless you contact Wisconsin Deferred Compensation to change your deduction. For example, if your bi-weekly deduction was $200 (or $5,200 for the year), $200 will be deducted from your monthly paycheck ($2,400 for the year if annual-basis or $1,800 for the year if academic year-basis) unless you take action to change your deduction.
