UW-Eau Claire research uncovering new information about cranberry production<\/a><\/h5>\n

Wisconsin is known as the nation\u2019s leading producer of cranberries, but details about the soils they grow in are still relatively unknown.\u00a0Research this summer at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is working to change that as Dr. Bridget McGivern, assistant professor of chemistry and biochemistry, and her team uncover new information about the microorganisms present in the rich, moist dirt and sand beneath cranberry plants.<\/p>\n

Nontraditional student Joe Wallace graduated in May from UW-Superior with a double major in\u00a0biology\u00a0and\u00a0environmental science. Joe Wallace was not your typical college student. At 46, the University of Wisconsin\u2013Superior graduate is a parent and a longtime blue-collar worker, and, until his recent graduation, he was something of an \u201celder statesman\u201d in his academic program.<\/p>\n
