The UW System International Advisory Council will be a leader in the development of international education and a critical resource for the dissemination and promotion of global expertise to our campuses, communities and to the State.

Recognizing the necessity of a globally-aware citizenry, the mission of the UW System International Advisory Council is to facilitate the international education of our students, staff & faculty, community business & civic leaders, policy makers, and the broader citizenry of the State of Wisconsin through educational programming, policy advice, and public advocacy.

The IEAC is a resource for the advancement of international education and engagement for all UW institutions.  It provides input to the Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs on the development, review, and update of system-wide international policies as well as strategic planning pertaining to international education and engagement.

The IEAC serves as a forum to foster communication among UW institutions on international matters and for sharing knowledge and expertise among institution international offices on immediate challenges, emerging opportunities, best practices, and policy initiatives.

Collaboration and Efficiency

The IEAC promotes collaboration across the UW institutions to make internationalization efforts more sustainable.  It may recommend programming that minimizes redundancy, reduces costs to individual institutions, and provides better negotiation platforms for services.  It is a resource for expanding collaboration in study abroad programs, international student recruitment, faculty and student exchange programs, and other academic programming to maximize the UW System’s global outreach.  And it will assist UW institutions in seeking internal and external funding opportunities to support internationalization.
